The Emir of Al Sharqiya blesses the signing of memorandums of understanding between the “Environment, Water and Agriculture” branch and several charitable bodies

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, in his office at the Diwan of the Emirate, today, Tuesday, blessed the signing of a number of agreements between the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Eastern Province and a number of different parties.

His Highness, the Emir of the Eastern Province, valued cooperation between government and private agencies and the third sector to achieve development goals that are in the interest of the citizen, the development and elevation of the nation, and the pursuit of the goals and objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Engineer Amer Al-Mutairi, Director General of the Ministry’s branch in the Eastern Province, explained that the memorandums of understanding that were signed included the Saudi Food Bank Association (Eta’am), the Charitable Society for Orphan Care in the Eastern Province (Benaa), the Al-Ataa Women’s National Association in Qatif Governorate, and the Food Fertilizer Recycling Company (Tadweer), at the emirate’s headquarters.

The Director General of the Branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Eastern Region, Eng. Amer bin Ali Al-Mutairi, said that it aims to achieve sustainable development for society, support and empower the sector of preserving blessings and reduce food loss and waste, as well as support and empower the non-profit sector for orphan families and empower women in the activities and services provided by the Ministry in its various sectors, in accordance with the objectives of the Blessed Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Al-Mutairi stated that these memorandums of understanding come within two tracks. The first track is to support and empower the food preservation sector and reduce food loss and waste, in which it was signed with the Saudi Food Bank Association (Etaam) and the Food Fertilizer Recycling Company (Tadweer), as it aims to implement programs and initiatives related to food preservation, hold awareness programs and joint scientific forums to reduce food loss and waste and avoid waste due to the importance of food security, and benefit from the quantities reserved in vegetable markets.And fruit suitable for consumption for people with limited income, providing sites and spaces for the association in public benefit markets, training the association’s beneficiaries in the areas of the agricultural sector, as well as benefiting from the quantities reserved in fruit and vegetable markets, recycling surplus food, recycling damaged agricultural products and recycling them into agricultural fertilizers, benefiting from recycling agricultural and palm waste and turning them into agricultural fertilizers, providing sites and spaces for the company in public benefit markets according to the Ministry’s regulations.

Engineer Al-Mutairi also added that the second track came to support and empower the non-profit sector for orphan families and to empower women in the activities and services provided by the Ministry in its various sectors. In it, a contract was signed with each of the Charitable Society for Orphan Care in the Eastern Province (Benaa), the Al-Ataa Women’s National Association in Qatif Governorate, which aims to empower and qualify women and the orphan’s family to improve the lifestyle by working to localize professions in public benefit markets, contributing to sustainable rural agricultural development by supporting the Reef Program, training the association’s beneficiaries in the areas of the sector.Agriculture, providing locations and spaces for the association in public interest markets, as well as contributing to sustainable rural agricultural development by supporting the Reef Program, empowering women to work in public interest markets and providing sites for the association, establishing volunteer opportunities for afforestation with 4 events annually, and holding festivals and community events.

There are several targeted programs during this year 2023, including empowering women and orphan families by leasing a number of (30) shops to the association with incentive fees in the central fruit and vegetable market in Dammam, training, training more than (200) beneficiaries from families and orphans in the agricultural services sector, and including more than (150) beneficiaries from families of orphans and women in the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program “Reef”, which aims to improve the rural agricultural sector and raise the standard of living of small farmers,Increasing efficiency and productivity, and improving lifestyle.
